What are the different options?

When you go to a professional nail salon, they will usually offer you two different types of nails: an overlay or tips. Both overlays and tips involve adding an artificial product on top of your real nails. The main difference between the two is that with overlays, the product is applied directly onto your natural nail while with tips, the artificial nail is first glued onto a small plastic tip and then attached to your natural nail.

Nail overlays are usually made out of either gel or acrylic. Gel nails are thinner and more flexible than acrylic nails, making them feel more natural. However, they require more upkeep than acrylic nails and need to be reapplied every two to three weeks.

Acrylic nails are made out of a harder plastic and are therefore more durable than gel nails. They can last up to six weeks before needing to be reapplied.

Please be sure to book a colour option add-on service with any full set or overlay or even on top of your manicure.

In-salon we use the brand’s Gel bottle & shellac for our overlays, shellac colours on top of all our nail services with lots of colours to choose from.

Our nail extensions are glitter bells and NSI in either gel or acrylic but if you are unsure please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
